Latvian tennis players beat Portugal in the King’s Cup

At the beginning, Ostapenko was announced for the doubles match with Semenistai, but since the fate of the fight was already decided after both singles matches, the leader of the Latvian national team was replaced by Daniela Vismane in the doubles match. There was also a change in the Portuguese team, where Maria García went on the field instead of the team leader Francisca Jorge.

Semenistaja/Wismane defeated the Portuguese 7-5, 3-6, 10:6.

In the first match, Semenistaya (WTA 110th) defeated Angelina Voloschuk (WTA 760th) 4-6, 6-1, 6-1, and in the second match, Ostapenko (WTA 10th) defeated 6-4, 4-6, 7-6 ( 7:4) defeated Francisca George (WTA 190).

In the second group match, the Netherlands beat Turkey 2-1.

Latvian tennis players will meet the Netherlands on Tuesday.

The Latvian national team includes Aļona Ostapenko (WTA 10th), Darja Semenistaj (WTA 110th), Daniela Vismane (WTA 366th), Beatrice Zeltiņa and Adelina Lačinova.

On the other hand, the Portuguese team consists of Francisca George (WTA 190), Matilde George (WTA 551), Angelina Vološchuk (WTA 760), Ana Filipa Santuš (WTA 1112), Maria Garcia (tied 1343).

The tournament of the first group of the Europe/Africa zone of the Billie Jean King Cup will take place until April 13, and the Latvians still have to meet the Netherlands and Turkey in the group games.

12 teams compete in Portugal – Austria, Bulgaria, Denmark, Greece, Latvia, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Serbia, Turkey, Hungary and Sweden.
