Latvian specialist Sandis Buškevičs will continue to work as an assistant coach in the team of coaches of the Lithuanian basketball club Klaipėda “Neptunas”, the website “basketnews.lt” reports.

“Neptuna” sports director Daiņi Vaitelis confirms in the columns of the website that he has signed a contract with coach Tomas Gaidamavičs, who has been the assistant coach since 2017 and coached the club’s doubles until 2023, but his assistants will also be Buškevics.

“The agreement is long-term, because we really believe in Gaidamavič. For so many years, he has been successfully working in Neptunas’ doubles, and the results were very good, “says Vaitelis in a conversation with the Internet portal. “To date, I have not seen a coach work better with youth. In addition, fitness trainer Laurīns Gendvils will also move from the Neptune doubles to the main team, but will continue to work as an assistant. Sandis Buškevics. Really very good team. The Klaipeda team will also start in the FIBA ​​Champions League qualification next season.

For Buškevics, who is 43 years old, this will be the second season in Klaipeda club.

In the player’s career, Buškevics, who was once a basketball player for the Latvian national team, represented the Latvian clubs Ventspils, ASK Rīga and Liepājas lions, as well as played for various teams in Turkey, Russia, Lithuania, Italy, Iran and Poland. The former match manager became the Latvian champion five times, but he made his national team debut in 1998.
