(Full text added.)

The game on the 17th court could start at about 15 Latvian time.

The match between Latvia and Belgium was supposed to take place already on Tuesday, but this match and several others were postponed to Wednesday due to rain.

Ostapenko occupies the 17th position in the WTA ranking and was also placed in the tournament with this number, while Minnen is ranked 123rd and participated in the qualification.

The two athletes have not met in singles matches in WTA tournaments so far.

For the 26-year-old Ostapenko, this will be her eighth start at Wimbledon and her best achievement is the semifinals in 2018, but last year she reached the fourth round. Meanwhile, 25-year-old Minnen has competed in the Wimbledon tournament for the past two years, reaching the second round last year.

Ostapenko triumphed at the WTA 250 in Birmingham for her first title of the season, before withdrawing in the quarter-finals of the WTA 500 at Eastbourne due to health problems. She reached the quarterfinals in the first “Grand Slam” tournament of the season in Australia, but did not make it past the second round at the French Open.

On the other hand, last week Minnena defeated Semenistai (WTA 208) 6-2, 6-3 in the decisive third round of the qualification, preventing the Latvian tennis player from making her debut in the main “Grand Slam” tournaments.

This season, the Belgian reached the main tournament for the first time in the “Grand Slam” tournaments and mostly played in the ITF qualifiers, however, she also managed to fight to the finals in the “WTA 125” series tournament in France, where she lost to former “US Open” winner Sloane Stevens from the USA in the decisive match.

Ostapenko has won 26 out of 39 matches this season, while the Belgian tennis player has a record of 37-12.

In the second round, the winner will face Romanian Sorana Kirstea (WTA 37th) or German Tatjana Marija (WTA 62nd), whom the Latvian first racket lost in last year’s round of 16.

The third “Grand Slam” tournament of the season will take place until July 16.
