Latvia in the first quarter among the three EU countries with a decline in construction output The news

In Latvia, construction output in the first quarter of this year decreased by 8.4% compared to January-March last year, being among the three European Union (EU) member states where the decline was registered in this period, according to the data published by the EU Statistical Office “Eurostat” published on Monday. for 26 bloc members.

The year-on-year decline in construction output in the first quarter was still in Belgium (-2.1%) and Spain (-6.2%).

The fastest growth was in Poland (+ 23%), Ireland (+ 21.7%) and Slovenia (+ 20.6%). In Estonia, construction output increased by 13.9% during this period, but in Lithuania – by 8.6%.

In the EU, construction output increased by 5.8% year on year in the first quarter, compared with 5.6% in the euro area. At the same time, quarter-on-quarter output of construction output in the EU increased by 3.6% and in the euro area by 3.5%.

In the first quarter, compared to the last quarter of last year, construction output fell in three EU Member States: Ireland and Spain (-2.4% each) and Sweden (-1%). Meanwhile, the fastest growth in construction was recorded in Slovenia (+ 33.2%), Poland (+ 13.1%) and Lithuania (+ 10.6%). In Latvia, construction output in the first quarter was 1.7% higher than in the previous three months, while in Estonia it was 5.9% higher.
