Tensions rose in the Turkish Grand National Assembly during the negotiations of the law proposal, which contains the ‘social media regulations’, which the opposition calls censorship.
According to the report of DHA, HDP Sirnak MP Hüseyin Kaçmaz criticized the operations launched against terrorist organizations in the Southeast.
Upon Kaçmaz’s claims that the operations targeted the Kurdish people, AKP Diyarbakır Deputy Oya Eronat reacted to Kaçmaz.
Saying that he is a Kurd, Eronat said to Kaçmaz, “Our worries are not Kurds, but the dishonest PKK. “The operations are carried out against the terrorist organization PKK.”

TENSION INCREASED
Thereupon, a verbal debate took place between the AKP and HDP deputies. While the debate continued in the meantime, CHP Group Deputy Chairman Engin Özkoç also reacted and used the word ‘shame’.
HDP lawmakers demanded that AKP’s Eronat call Kaçmaz the HDP ‘dishonorable’, and therefore condemn Eronat.
When the session started again, Erdoğmuş said that Eronat’s words required condemnation as hurtful words. AK Party Group President Naci Bostancı noted that Eronat did not say those words to Kaçmaz.
According to the report of İHA, the condemnation of Eronat, which Erdoğmuş submitted to the vote, was not accepted. HDP Group Deputy Chairman Hakkı Saruhan Oluç used the term “suspect” for Eronat.
Upon this, AKP and CHP deputies confronted. Erdoğmuş took a break from the session again.
When the condemnation proposed by Erdoğmuş was rejected at the General Assembly, HDP deputies reacted by hitting the lines.
Party Group Deputies intervened and ended the discussion.

Cihangir Islam, an independent Istanbul MP who resigned from the Saadet Party, was also included in the ‘dishonest’ debate.
In his statement from the Islamic Twitter account, “Social Media Law negotiations continue as of 07.07. AK Party Deputy Oya Eronat said to a deputy “dishonest”. The condemnation sentence proposed by the president was rejected by AK Party and MHP deputies. It broke new ground in the history of the Turkish Grand National Assembly. It’s a pity… ”.

He continued his criticism of Islam as follows:
* Painful aspect of the work is one of the reasons of the Social Media Law to prevent insults and protect personal rights.
* While discussing this law, insult was almost rewarded by power votes.
* A situation that already gives an idea about the application.
The proposal, the negotiations of which were continued, was accepted with the votes of AKP and MHP.
