Last daily update RIVM: six deaths, three recordings Inland

Two people died last Friday and two on Saturday. In addition, RIVM received notification from someone who died on Monday. The sixth person died on April 18, but this has only now been processed at RIVM.

Three people have been hospitalized for infection with the virus. Two of them were hospitalized in the first half of June. The number of admissions is now at 11,877. The virus was also diagnosed in 57 people. Since the outbreak began, 50,273 people have been diagnosed with the disease. The actual number is probably higher because not everyone has been tested.

Reproduction number drops below 1

The reproduction number, which indicates how fast the virus is spreading, has dropped below 1. This means that the outbreak can slowly go away. At the beginning of June the figure had risen above 1, but after a week it had dropped below that limit again. RIVM looks back two weeks to make an estimate of the reproduction number. The institute does not give a more recent figure, because it is not reliable enough.

The institute last released a daily update on Tuesday. From now on, RIVM only reports the figures for the previous seven days on Tuesdays.
