March 6 on channel “Muz-TV” starts the show “Battle of Generations”, in which the masters of the stage will compete with young artists in musical battles. So, they will measure their vocal skills with rivals Nikolay Baskov, Na-Na group, Ivanuški International, Danya Milokhincivert.
According to the general director of the Muz-TV channel, the goal of the project is to break the stereotypes that the older generation is no longer in trend, and the youth will never reach their level. Teleprogramma.pro correspondent visited the filming of the program.
So what are the rules of the show? Every week, one representative from each generation (it can be a singer, a singer, a group) comes on stage and performs four compositions: their own hit, a love song, a cover version of the opponent’s hit and a new work.
After each performance, the jury sums up the results and gives its vote to one of the participants. The panel of judges includes three representatives of the generation of “fathers” and three – “children”. The permanent members of the jury of the project were Larisa Dolina, Victor Drobysh, Dava (David Manukyan) and Mia Boyka. One more judge’s chair each week will be occupied by a new participant.
Mia Boyka: “I made friends with all the members of the jury”
According to singer Mia Boyka, she was interested in getting to know many new artists and trying to understand their music.
“To be honest, I don’t always understand adult music. I didn’t listen to it as a child, so for me, participating in the show is an unusual experiment. I think that the older participants will surprise me, ”said Mia Boyka.
Miya believes that one of the surest ways to keep the generational connection alive today is to record duets. In this sense, according to the young performer, Nikolai Baskov and Danya Milokhin, Philip Kirkorov and Davout, Sergey Zhukov and Klava Koku can be called an example of successful tandems.
However, at the same time, Miya believes that hazing has a place in show business, but this phenomenon did not affect the artist herself.
“It all depends on how you present yourself,” says the singer. – It is important to find a common language with representatives of the older generation. I myself became friends with all the members of the jury, we communicate well. This is the most important thing that I managed to achieve on this project.”
Larisa Dolina: “I’m wondering which way the new growth is going”
Larisa Dolina also confirms that all members of the jury team found a common language with each other.
“We didn’t have any conflicts. Of course, we have different opinions about each participant, but in many ways we still agree in our judgments, which does not allow us to quarrel and go against each other, the singer explains. In any case, we all come to the right decisions. And if I do not agree with one of the young opponents, I simply ask him to argue his choice. I don’t always accept it, but I agree. In general, I enjoy this project.
Why did you decide to take part in it at all?
— Each new project is very interesting for me as a creative person. Besides the fact that I see colleagues, many of whom have been friends for many years, I also get to know new growth. I am interested in what they do, how they do it and which way they go. Perhaps something will interest me, so I do not refuse such proposals.
Viktor Drobysh: “I liked that the youth on the jury are so bloodthirsty”
Composer and producer Viktor Drobysh admitted that he was not always on the side of the “older generation”. And he especially liked how the young representatives of the jury defended their opinion.
“Throughout all 10 issues, it cannot be unequivocally said that I have always supported the adult generation, sometimes even they disappointed me more. It seemed to me that they could have defended their 90s and 00s better. But basically, I liked that the fight was so tough, and the young people on the jury are really so bloodthirsty, – said Viktor Drobysh. “They know what they want, it’s not like we are when we were young. I, being a child, would have been scared at such a show and just sat, and they barked all the time. No, they are great fellows! I am proud of them and all the participants!”
According to singer and blogger David Manukyan, it was great to hear many artists live, and he was especially captivated by Diana Arbenina.
“She almost brought me to tears, I was covered from the sound, from the strong lyrics of the song! And when it was time to speak after the performance, I tried to cope with my emotions, and then everything didn’t go according to plan, but it was from the heart!” Dava said.
Group “Na-Na”: “Our rivals are very creative guys”
One of those participants who will take the stage from the older generation are the musicians of the Na-Na group. According to the artists, they always wanted to try their hand at the battle with the youth. As the Nanais say, they were familiar with the work of those musicians with whom they performed on the same stage, but did not know the guys personally. And the show project “Battle of Generations” corrected this misunderstanding.
“It’s great that there are projects that unite both young and already legendary artists. Most often we stew in our own juice: 90s, discos. We perceive everything that happens not as a battle, but as a joint show, the musicians say. “And I think we got it. The jury tried to be as objective as possible and not do anyone concessions. Such programs connect the artists, thanks to which a joint song or video may appear.
– How did you choose the songs for the program?
– Our rivals have taken Faina from us, and we have also taken their main hit from them. As for the main tracks, they are performed at our concerts, they are available on all digital platforms. Although for some, these are new compositions.
– For some reason it seemed to me that the rivals were somewhat similar to you in your youth …
– I see only the similarity of one of the musicians with Vova. Although there is something similar … Their voice leading is quite interesting. One participant sings in a low voice and the other in a high voice. National notes slip through the music, and it sounds very cool, it shakes the hall. The artists are very creative, come up with interesting musical moves, and humanly good guys.
