The background to the police operation is domestic conflicts, which had already occurred on Sunday. The victim had meanwhile left the common house. The polluter stayed in a clinic after the clashes and left the clinic again, according to the police. There was increased evidence that the man had explosives and firearms and should have threatened to use them.
The Aurich police had requested numerous special forces in order to be able to react adequately. Local residents were informed and the area was cordoned off by emergency services. There was no acute concrete danger for other people involved. The man was arrested by the SEK Lower Saxony at around 2 p.m. Various firearms and ammunition have been found so far.
