Dozens of homes on the Reviusrondel have been evacuated because of the fire. The residents are accommodated in a sports complex on the Alkenlaan. It is not known how many people have had to leave their homes.
The fire broke out in the night from Thursday to Friday in an apartment on the top floor, where all four victims stayed. The fire then spread to the roof of the building. Smoke therefore ends up in the ventilation ducts of the building and spreads to other homes.

Emergency services have scaled up to fight the fire. At 05.20 am, the security region reported that the fire on the roof appears to be under control. Demolition work must be carried out to fight the fire in the ventilation ducts.
