In the Orangery of Kensington Palace in London it opened its doors Royal style in the making, an exhibition dedicated to the most beautiful and unforgettable dresses of Lady Diana and other women of the royal family. Until January 2022, the public will be able to admire dresses, original sketches, fabric samples and unpublished photos collected by the Royal Ceremionial Dress Collection. Lady Diana’s wedding dress
The wedding dress that Lady Diana he wore on July 29, 1981 is the protagonist of the exhibition. An ivory-colored silk taffeta meringue embellished with over 10 thousand pearls and sequins. A true legend, also thanks to those 7.62 meters of train (the longest in the history of royal weddings), designed by David ed Elizabeth Emmanuel with the aim of making Diana Spencer look like a “fairytale princess” on her wedding day with Charles of England. Held in mothballs for the past 25 years, it returns visible to the public for the first time thanks to William ed Harry, who granted it in the year of the 40th anniversary of the ceremony.

Bright flowers and colors: the caring dress
Among the iconic dresses on display at the Kensington Palace Orangery, there is also the one known as caring dress. This is a colorful floral dress on a blue background designed for Lady Diana from the fashion house Bellville Sassoon. The name (Italian: thoughtful dress) comes from the fact that the princess liked to wear it for visits to hospitals or to children. He argued that bright, vibrant colors were particularly suited to instilling joy. Instead of a hat, as expected by the designer, he preferred to accessorize it with flashy costume jewelery, especially necklaces, which would attract the attention of the little ones.

Among the items on display, also the one known as honeymoon dress. It is a peach-colored suit finished in lace that Lady Diana she had worn for honeymoon departure (hence the name). Made to measure for her by Bellville Sassoon has a blazer in two versions, long and short sleeves, and was recycled by the wife of the Prince Charles also for the royal tour of Australia in 1982 and the opening of a hospital in Grimsby in 1983.
