Labor leader steps down on fine for violating corona rules Abroad

Police recently reported receiving “important new information” about a meeting where the rules were allegedly broken by Starmer. Images have also surfaced from April 2021 in which he drinks beer indoors and has something to eat with colleagues. That was in violation of the lockdown rules in force in England at the time.

The police initially concluded that Starmer was not in violation, but have now reopened the investigation. The politician himself maintains that he has done nothing wrong and has always followed the rules.

Starmer is under a magnifying glass because of the investigation and the fuss it causes. The opposition leader lashed out at Prime Minister Boris Johnson and Finance Minister Rishi Sunak when they were fined for partying at 10 Downing Street, Johnson’s official residence, while the country was in lockdown. He called on both Johnson and Sunak to resign.

The Labor leader says his case is different from Johnson’s as the prime minister has been found guilty of violating the corona rules. “I think there are now over 50 fines related to Downing Street. And yet the prime minister has not resigned,” Starmer said. He and the others in his party want the public to believe that all politicians are the same and behave the same. But I’m here to make it clear that’s not the case.”
