Kylie Jenner breaks silence on deaths at Travis Scott concert


Kylie Jenner has broken her silence regarding the deaths of eight people at the Astroworld Festival hosted by Travis Scott.

“My thoughts and prayers go out to all those who lost their lives, were injured or affected in any way.” She continued, “I want to make it clear that we were not aware of any deaths until the news came out after the show and in no world would I have continued filming or acting. I am sending my deepest condolences to all the families during this difficult process.”

Many have criticized Travis, 30, and the organizers on social media for not finishing the concert streamed live earlier and in the images posted on social media, attendees can be seen yelling for help and yelling to stop the show. A video reconstruction from The Washington Post shows the concert stopped about an hour after concert goers were visibly distressed.

According to the outlet, Travis paused his set at least four times. As seen on the Apple Music live stream, at one point, he asked security to attend to a passed out guest. Kylie had posted multiple videos of the concert on her Instagram story while it was still underway, and was later heavily criticized on social media for one showing flashing lights from an ambulance cart visible in the tight crowd.

Early Saturday, Travis broke his own silence on the tragedy, tweeting that he was “absolutely devastated” by it. He echoed those comments in a video posted to his Instagram story, adding that he was working to help families.
