The decision is made. The match Club Brugge – KV Mechelen on Saturday evening will certainly be completed. That was confirmed to us by the Pro League.

KV Mechelen submitted an official request for postponement on Thursday evening because it is in the players core with seven positive corona cases. The Pro League declined that request because they believe that it does not concern seven essential players. Of the seven infected players, three have played less than a minute this season (Bouzian, Wernersson and Van den Eynden). The last two never even made it onto the competition magazine this season.

The news is a disappointment for KV Mechelen. The five players who return from quarantine (Bushiri, Schoofs, Kaya, Voet and Boni) can only train with the group for the first time today after having been unable to train for one week (and in Bushiri’s case even two weeks). It is very doubtful whether they are physically ready to take on the national champions tomorrow evening. In addition to the basic players Peyre, Vranckx, Togui and regular substitute Shved (all in quarantine), Vrancken must also miss the suspended Kabore tomorrow.

Wouter Vrancken will give his press conference at 1 pm in the run-up to tomorrow’s match.
