Today, two Czech tennis players and the biggest star Simona Halepová advanced to the second round of the WTA clay tournament in Prague.
Halepová defeated Polona Hercogová from Slovenia only in the tie-break of the third set and will face the home card holder Barbora Krejčíková. Kristýna Plíšková fulfilled the role of the favorite, while Barbora Strýcová, who was seventh, finished in Stromovka.
Kateřina Siniaková, who plays with Tamara Zidanšeková from Slovenia, can also expand the Czech series in the 2nd round. The match was interrupted after sets 3: 6 and 6: 3 due to darkness and will be completed on Wednesday.

In the first set of Slovenian Hercogová, she allowed a single game, but lost the second set in the same ratio of 1: 6 and, as in all three previous matches, their duel reached the decisive set.
Halep led 5: 3, but did not deliver the match and then in the end she did not use six matchmaps on the return. It was decided by the shortened game, which the favored Romanian woman won 7: 3. “It was very difficult, but it’s always with Polona. It’s important to win the match after six months. I’m glad I came back with a win,” she said.
Due to the storm, Plíšková and Fruhvirtová managed to play only five games on Monday with one rain break. The 3: 2 match was started by the much better experienced Plíšková, who won the first set with three games in a row. In the second she led 5: 3 and had two match points on the return, but she did not change any of them and then lost her service. In the eleventh gam, however, she picked up Fruhvirt’s serve again and finished the match for the second time.
Just like at the June Tipsport Elite Trophy exhibition, she defeated a talented tennis player at the Prague Open, who started in the main competition thanks to a wild card. In the second round, Plíšková will face the second seed Petra Martičová from Croatia.
