General Election Commissions (KPU) denied giving earphones to vice presidential candidate number 2 Gibran Rakabuming Raka during the 2024 election vice presidential debate. The KPU said that all vice presidential candidates used 3 microphones.
“All vice presidential candidates use the same equipment. All vice presidential candidates use 3 mics in anticipation of a mic going dead,” said Hasyim in his statement, quoted on Sunday (24/12/2023).
“It’s not an ear feeder. It’s a mic that is attached to the cheek and attached to the ear,” he continued.
Hasyim explained that the public could ask the organizing TV station or the candidate pair’s team if the equipment used by Gibran was purely a microphone. Hasyim emphasized that the KPU is ready to take responsibility if there are mistakes.
“All vice presidential candidates can be asked and also the TV station organizing the debate, as well as the candidate team who were in the holding room when installing the microphone, can be asked. I as the organizer also know and am ready to take responsibility,” he said.
Apart from that, Hasyim said that the debate process took place spontaneously. According to him, there was no cheating or whispering to the vice presidential candidate during the debate.
“Spontaneous debate, it is impossible to dictate, listen to whispers or read cheat sheets. Roy Suryo is indeed a slanderer,” he said.
It was previously known that Roy Suryo tweeted about Gibran Rakabuming Raka. Roy said Gibran wore 3 tools during the vice presidential debate.
Seen detikcom, in his X account, Roy Suryo asked the KPU to treat all debate participants fairly. Roy said that Gibran used 3 tools during the debate, including clip ons, hand held and earphones.
