Prof. Todor Kantardzhiev: Ten patients with coronavirus infect ten new ones
Several hundred thousand unused vaccines against COVID-19 will be scrapped at the end of the month in Bulgaria, former Health Minister Kostadin Angelov told a news conference in Burgas. He told reporters that most of the vaccines expire at the end of July.
Angelov did not specify the exact amount that will be destroyed, but stressed that there will be scrapping of vaccines of all kinds.
The ex-minister reproached the caretaker government for failing the first and most important task in the country – to continue the vaccination at such a pace as to give reliable security to the Bulgarians for the next wave. According to Angelov, vaccination has practically stopped in Bulgaria.
Kostadin Angelov said that the “beheading” of the hospitals by the caretaker government will lead to severe consequences for the country and pointed out that the government is leading Bulgaria to a new wave of COVID.
Ten coronavirus patients infect ten new people. This is shown by the calculations of the reproductive number. Compared to last week, the number maintains approximate levels, said at the press conference Prof. Todor Kantardzhiev.
According to him, the rate of vaccination in our country has sharply decreased. He informed that a week ago the European Center for Disease Control COVID-19 published a document in which it draws attention to the spread of the Delta variant, the need for children to be vaccinated and to analyze the measures in schools.
However, I hear completely different messages from the Ministry of Health in our country, added Prof. Kantardjiev.
The former director of the National Center for Infectious and Parasitic Diseases called for more Bulgarians to be vaccinated.
Both the healthcare system and the people will have problems this fall, Kantardzhiev said.
