[06 gennaio, KOREA WAVE]After the South Korean government implemented strict quarantine measures against the new coronavirus infection for people entering the country from China, some internet users, especially online users, have been criticized in China.

From 2, the South Korean government will carry out tests for the new coronavirus infection before and after entering the country for those entering from China, and will allow entry only if the negative is confirmed. In light of the rapid spread of infections in China, it has decided to limit the issuance of short-term visas until the end of next month, except for diplomatic and official business, essential businesses and humanitarian reasons.

In effect, it has imposed an immigration ban on Chinese citizens.

On the other hand, China’s largest portal “Baidu” and the Chinese version of Twitter “Weibo” have been inundated with criticism of South Korea’s quarantine policy.

The so-called “NO Korea” is spreading on Weibo which says: “I will not go (to Korea) or buy anything”. Users said, “If South Korea doesn’t welcome Chinese tourists, we shouldn’t go to South Korea.” I didn’t think it would happen like this.

Regarding the South Korean government’s strengthening of epidemic prevention measures, Wang Wenbin, deputy spokesman for China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said, “Every country’s epidemic prevention measures should be scientific and should not be excessive. It will affect normal trade and personnel exchanges. It shouldn’t,” he says.
