Kominfo Delays Meeting to Discuss 5G with DPR

Suara.com – The Ministry of Communication and Information Technology postponed and will reschedule the mid-discussion meeting 5G with the House of Representatives.

Information obtained by Antara, Kominfo together with Commission I of the Indonesian Parliament today is scheduled to hold a meeting on 5G governance in Indonesia, a follow-up to the meeting on February 1.

The meeting had to be postponed because one of the echelon I level officials at the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology complex was suspected of being infected with COVID-19.

“The rescheduling of the work meeting will be rearranged within a time to be informed later,” said a statement from Kominfo received by Antara, Wednesday (17/3/2021).

The main building of Kominfo, especially the floor where the official is in office, has been cleaned with disinfectant.

Meanwhile, the Minister of Communication and Information, Johnny G. Plate, regularly conducts PCR swab tests, the last one on March 16 and tested negative. Minister Plate has received two injections of the COVID-19 vaccine since last February.

“The Minister of Communication and Information is in good health and is carrying out his duties as usual with adjustments in accordance with the prevailing health protocols,” said Kominfo.

Kominfo during a joint meeting with Commission I of the House of Representatives in February said that it was preparing a Digital Indonesia Roadmap for 2021-2024, which would contain policy directions, implementation and targets for achieving digital transformation in four strategic sectors. The Indonesia Digital Roadmap is being reported to President Joko Widodo.

Strategic sectors included in the Indonesia Digital Roadmap 2021-2024 are Digital infrastructure, digital government, digital economy and digital society. Kominfo involves ministries and related institutions as well as representatives of the industrial sector and society in compiling this road map.

In addition to the Indonesia Digital Roadmap 2021-2024, Kominfo also prioritizes the development of a National Data Center and the Data Protection Law.
