“Kohaigen to Build Large-Capacity Hydrogen Charging Station for Commercial Vehicles in Sejong City”

[월간수소경제 박상우 기자] A hydrogen filling station for commercial vehicles that supplies 300 kg of hydrogen per hour will be built in Sejong City.

Kohaigen announced on the 22nd that it held a groundbreaking ceremony for the “Kohaigen Sejong Daepyeong Hydrogen Charging Station”, a hydrogen charging station for commercial vehicles, at the site where the Sejong Daepyeong charging station is planned to be built in the Sejong City Intercity Bus Terminal.

This hydrogen filling station is promoted as a private capital subsidy project for the installation of hydrogen fuel cell vehicle charging stations by the Ministry of Environment. The project cost is KRW 9.35 billion, including KRW 4.2 billion from the government, KRW 1.35 billion from Sejong City, and KRW 3.8 billion from Kohaizen. It is a large-capacity charging station that charges 300 kg of hydrogen per hour, which is 12 times larger than 25 kg charging stations commonly found in downtown areas. all.

This is a large-capacity charging station designed for the purpose of charging commercial hydrogen vehicles such as buses and trucks that consume large amounts of hydrogen.

Given that a general hydrogen filling station can charge 1 bus or 5 passenger cars per hour, the completion of the Sejong Daepyeong hydrogen filling station is expected to expand the infrastructure for the introduction and conversion of hydrogen commercial vehicles.

In addition, the Sejong Daepyeong hydrogen filling station of Kohigen is optimized for commercial vehicle charging that requires long-distance driving and fast charging time, and is expected to dramatically increase user convenience.

It is possible to charge commercial vehicles that travel an average distance of 434 km per vehicle, and the charging time is an average of 10 to 12 minutes per hydrogen bus. This increase in user convenience is expected to further increase accessibility to hydrogen vehicles and promote the revitalization of the hydrogen economy.

Kohaigen currently operates Jeonju Peace Hydrogen Station and Changwon Seongju Hydrogen Station, and is building large-capacity hydrogen charging stations for commercial vehicles in 19 regions across the country.

In particular, in 2023, it was selected as a private capital subsidy project for installing liquefied hydrogen filling stations for commercial vehicles in two regions, and plans to build and operate large-capacity hydrogen filling stations in 30 regions nationwide by 2028.
