“BYD’s Qin Plus EV Honor Edition is the car that traditional car makers had hoped would never come,” writes Canadian car expert James Carter on the social networking site LinkedIn. Carter labels BYD’s latest model as a “Corolla killer”, referring to the Toyota Corolla, one of Toyota’s best-selling models for years.
“Most buyers today want a solid, reliable car that has a number of nice options and doesn’t cost too much. Over the past 50 years, you automatically ended up with a Toyota Corolla,” Carter writes. “However, if a car comes onto the market that costs even less, is much cheaper to use and is just as reliable, then it will be a huge hit.”
