Danny Makkelie will be in charge of the top match in the Eredivisie between PSV and Ajax on Sunday. The Eindhoven team must win in the Philips Stadium to revive the title race.
Makkelie will receive assistance in Eindhoven from Hessel Steegstra and Mario Diks, while Allard Lindhout is the fourth official. Jochem Kamphuis is the VAR and receives assistance from Johan Balder.
PSV and Ajax have already faced each other twice this season. The competition match in the Johan Cruijff ArenA (2-2) in January was led by Björn Kuipers and Serdar Gözübüyük whistled the match between the top clubs in the quarterfinals of the TOTO KNVB Cup. Ajax won that match 2-1.
The third meeting between PSV and Ajax this season starts on Sunday at 2.30 p.m. The team from Amsterdam has currently six points more than the Eindhoven team and played one game less than the closest attacker.
The match between number three AZ and number four Feyenoord will be led by Kuipers on Sunday in Alkmaar (kick-off at 4.45 pm). The team from Rotterdam has four points less than the Alkmaarders, but will play the make-up match against FC Groningen on Wednesday evening (kick-off at 6.45 pm).
The KNVB also announced the appointments for the semi-finals in the cup tournament on Monday. Bas Nijhuis will be in charge of sc Heerenveen-Ajax on 3 March and Allard Lindhout will whistle Vitesse-VVV-Venlo the day before.
