Jürgen Klopp continues to wonder about his own team. Liverpool fought to a 3-2 win over West Ham United on Monday, equaling a record series with Manchester City.
The victory at Anfield meant for the inaccessible Liverpool the eighteenth in a row in the Premier League. City came to the same series between August and December 2017. Liverpool will meet Watford on Saturday for the chance of a new record.
“I did not expect that the record would ever be matched or improved. We managed to do it and I honestly cannot believe it,” Klopp said after the West Ham victory.
“I enjoyed it again tonight. After the equalizer the stadium went completely loose and that helped us. Whatever we achieve this season: we did it together. I am very grateful for all the support we receive.”
Liverpool did not get the victory as a gift, because after the opening goal of Georginio Wijnaldum, West Ham took a lead. Thanks to Mohamed Salah – he scored thanks to a huge blunder from keeper Lukasz Fabianski – and Sadio Mané was still won.

Klopp does see improvement
Klopp did emphasize that Liverpool must remain sharp, even though ‘The Reds’ is on its way to the first league title since 1990. The lead on number two City is 22 points.
“We started very well and Wijnaldum made a great goal, but after that we lost the ball too often. That really should be better. We had a hard time helping West Ham in the game.”
Three days after the match against Watford, Liverpool will visit Chelsea in the fifth round of the FA Cup. Four days later Bournemouth comes to Anfield in a competition.
