Kladno hockey players defeat Vsetín 4:1 in Extra League playoff opener, Richard Jarůšek shines

The Kladno hockey players beat Vsetín 4:1 in the opening game for the extra league. Forward Richard Jarůšek made it happen with two goals and an assist. On his return from injury, goalkeeper Adam Brízgala kept a clean sheet for the first time since December 30 with 152 seconds remaining.

The Knights started without the fifty-year-old owner Jaromír Jágr, who, however, was not needed as a member of the executive team on the bench.

Vsetín had to do without ailing No. 1 goalkeeper Maxim Žukov and was replaced by Patrik Romančík, who was last caught in the final game of the regular season on March 1.

After 108 seconds, the Wallachians got a power play when Sideroff was sent off, when Brízgala dealt with Klhůfek and Rob’s chances.

On the other side, Tralmaks shot over from the left from an angle, and Romančík then had to intervene against the captain Smoleňák.

The Kladen goalkeeper controlled Terer’s shot, and the Knights defended themselves even with Dotchin’s penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct. The home team did not sit down during Larsen’s penalty and Štěpán Bláha had a good position from the break in the breakdown, but missed.

At the beginning of the second part, Rob threatened, on the other side Jarůšek entrusted Romančík with a handball. Brízgala dealt with Matějčka’s attempt.

In the 29th minute, they celebrated with the home team’s lead. After the combination of Tralmaks and Jarůšek, Filip scored a goal, who only entered the season after an injury in the last game of the regular season.

In 164 seconds, the Knights were ahead by two goals. Melka charged Jarůšek from the rear guard to the left circle and fired through Romančík.

Klhůfek could have reduced it, but Brízgal got an assist with the right stick. Kladno countered when Melka was sent off, who ran away after returning from the penalty box, but hit the Vsetín goalkeeper. In the 38th minute, Jarůšek escaped and increased the score to 3:0.

At the start of the last part, Brízgal destroyed two of Matějček’s chances. Vsetín defended himself during Martenet’s penalty and, weakened, almost put in Hejd’s chance. The Kladen keeper kept a clean sheet even with Jonák’s chance. Romančík dismissed Ticháček’s painting after it was outnumbered.

In the 51st minute, Smoleňák found Tralmaks from behind the goal, which preserved the victory. Neither Holec nor captain Hrňa had yet to mark a clean sheet for Brízgal, but Matějček did it in 57:28.

The second game of the four-game winning streak will be played again in Kladno on Thursday from 18:00.
