Prysmian: offer presented to take over the Fos site in Battipaglia

The Minister of Business and Made in Italy, Adolfo Ursohe wrote, following a non-binding offer received by Prysmian for the site of Battipagliato request from the company “willingness to further extend the activities at the FOS factory in Battipaglia for at least another three months, in order to be able to delve deeper into the technical and economic aspects of the operation with the proponents and arrive at a solution that is the basis for the definitive relaunch of the site“.

This is an awareness campaign that follows the actions carried out by MIMIT to monitor the possible interest of other industrial entities and is placed within the renewed regulatory framework which has seen the Communications Guarantees Authority (AGCOM) identify – upon request MIMIT – the technical standards for the fiber optic cables that the successful tenderers for the construction of the network infrastructure must comply with, so as to ensure adequate quality levels and high connectivity performance.

Agcom confirmed that it has implemented, within the technical regulation, what was expressly requested by Minister Urso regarding the need to use G657 A2 fiber in the secondary access network, in the termination section up to the user’s home and regarding in the presence of one certification which focuses on the quality and durability of at least 20 years of the products optic fiber installed in the field.

The text relating to the technical regulation is currently being notified to the European Commission for competence assessments.

All this once again demonstrates the Ministry’s constant and continuous commitment to favoring all possible conditions that lead to a stable and lasting solution that guarantees a full relaunch of production in Battipaglia.
