Speaking in the documentary Charles: Our New King, biographer Ingrid Seward recounted how the then king told his wife to stop using a hair product, which she was so fond of. Reports from 1988 also revealed that the king, who was then Prince of Wales, eventually banned entry to Kensington Palace hairspray because he was aware of the negative impact of aerosols on the ozone layer.
Seward also said that Princess Diana, who died in 1997, did not understand why her husband insisted that he stop using the product, on the use of hairspray, and when asked why, he said that aerosols create a hole in the ozone layer, which Diana thought was very crazy.
