Kim berates North Korean officials for ‘crucial’ virus failure

Cheong Seong-Chang, an analyst at South Korea’s Sejong Private Institute, expressed a similar view, saying the North potentially faces huge virus-related issues in border towns close to China, such as as Sinuiju or Hyesan. He said sacked Presidium member Kim Jong Un could be Jo Yong Won, a secretary of the Workers’ Party Central Committee who had been seen as a rising figure in Pyongyang’s leadership circle.
