General Chairman Masyumi Reborn Party, Ahmad Yani became the legal team for the former Kadivhubinter Polri Headquarters, Inspector General Napoleon Bonaparte for the persecution case against the alleged blasphemy YouTuber Muhammad Kace.
Napoleon was previously named a suspect for the persecution of Kace at the Police Criminal Investigation Unit. He became a suspect with inmates who were placed in the Bareskrim Rutan.
“We received power of attorney from Inspector General Napoleon Bonaparte who is suspected of being a suspect in beatings and mistreatment,” said Yani at Masyumi’s office, Jakarta, Thursday (7/10).
Yani became Kace’s legal team along with 35 other people who were members of the Islamic Aqidah Defender Team (TPAI).
In his statement, Yani denied that Napoleon had mistreated Kace in the Criminal Investigation Department. According to him, the information circulating that the two-star police general abused Kace is only a one-sided statement from the police.
He also questioned the police’s reasons regarding the suitability of investigators, in this case the Dirtipidum Polri conveying information about the persecution. In fact, according to him, the information should be submitted by public relations.
“Is it true, the beating process, even to the point of being bathed in unconsciousness. Those are news that are not true. Because we have met, and Mr. Napoleon has told A to Z, said Yani.
Yani confirmed Napoleon’s statement in his open letter after the persecution of Kace. However, he said, the letter only stated that Napoleon would take measured action, not to persecute Kace.
“We also ask investigators to provide correct, appropriate information. If it is already on sale, it is not allowed. Moreover, it is a matter of process that must be respected,” he said.
Inspector General Napoleon Bonaparte is facing a prison sentence of up to 5.5 years following the alleged mistreatment of Muhamad Kosman alias Muhammad Kace at the Criminal Investigation Department. He was charged with Article 170 paragraph (1) in conjunction with Article 351 paragraph (1).
