Kerameos – Asimakopoulou Scandal: “I have no responsibilities, we had a caretaker government” – 2024-03-17 22:54:50

The Minister of the Interior “broke” her silence, Niki Kerameosabout the Asimakopoulou scandal despite the developments of the last few days about which, as directly involved – due to her position – she had not said anything publicly.

She herself appeared on ANT1 to convince viewers that the Mitsotakis government has absolutely no responsibility. “We are talking about a very specific period when we had a caretaker government, I was initially Minister of Education and then a parliamentary candidate. What responsibilities, what exactly should be attributed to me? Somewhere even populism has a limit,” said Niki Kerameos.

It is noted, however, that the two main people involved in the scandal – apart from Ms. Asimakopoulou – are New Democracy party officials: the general secretary of the Ministry of the Interior, Michalis Stavrianoudakis, and the secretary of Hellenism Abroad of New Democracy, Nikos Theodoropoulos, who were caromed. Niki Kerameos said that now the second is out of ND.

As for the investigation of the Ministry of the Interior, it did not give any answer at all with the investigation continuing from the side of Justice and the Authority for the Protection of Personal Data.

In fact, he tried to blame the illegal act on “a specific person”. “Mr. Stavrianoudakis has now resigned, while Mr. Theodoropoulos is no longer in the party,” he said.

He insisted that the issue “does not concern the electoral process. It is not about postal voting. We are talking about something that happened eight months ago. It’s something about personal data.”

“More than 30,000 Greeks have registered and 57% are Greeks from the interior,” he said, stressing that “for the first time, a universal check is being carried out at the Ministry of the Interior.”
