Kerala University Fires 15 Senate Members Notification from the Governor – University of Kerala | Arif Mohammad Khan

Thiruvananthapuram ∙ Raj Bhavan himself issued a notification after the Vice Chancellor rejected the Governor’s ultimatum to implement the expulsion order of the 15 members who boycotted the Kerala University Senate meeting. On the recommendation of the Governor, a notification was issued in the Official Gazette to implement this provision.

VC Dr. VP Mahadevan Pillai, who refused to abide by the governor’s order, advised the 15 ousted Senate members to attend the next four special Senate meetings. The Governor takes seriously the action of the VC that disobeys his orders as Chancellor. Yesterday he was participating in a program at Nagpur University and could make a decision regarding VC today. The Governor was of the position that no action was required against the VC who will retire on the 24th. According to legal experts, the expulsion process of all 15 members of the Senate took effect after the Raj Bhavan issued the notification. .

The 2 union members expelled by the Governor attended the Prime Minister’s official program on Tuesday. Instead of implementing the Governor’s order to expel 15 members of the Senate, the VC wrote a letter to the Governor asking for clarification on the order. In response to this, the governor issued an ultimatum that his decision should be implemented immediately. But the chancellor informed the Raj Bhavan that the VC had gone for Sabarimala darshan and no one was given the post in his place, so the order could not be carried out. The VC reached the office at night after the Raj Bhavan issued the notification.

The Senate meeting in August passed a resolution to cancel the Governor’s unilateral formation of the research committee. According to university regulations, the senate’s decision can only be revoked or changed after one year. Two-thirds of the members must call an extraordinary Senate meeting to reconsider the decision. The notice given to members says the Senate will meet in the event of such a request.

Summary in English: Governor’s Order on the Withdrawal of Members of the Senate of the University of Kerala
