Kerala Covid Cases Surge: 266 New Infections, 4 Deaths Reported in 24 Hours

COVID Cases in Kerala: For the third day in a row, more than two hundred daily Covid patients (Covid cases) in the state. 266 new covid cases were confirmed in the state in 24 hours. According to the figures released by the Kerala Health Ministry, two Covid deaths were reported yesterday. With this, the total number of active cases in the state has increased to 2872. Currently, experts point to JN 1 (JN 1) subtype as the reason for the rise in Covid cases in the country. The number of active Covid-19 cases in the country has crossed three thousand. At present, 3,420 people have been confirmed to be infected with the virus. According to the data of the Union Ministry of Health Four deaths were also reported in the last 24 hours. 640 new covid cases were confirmed in the country on Friday alone.

According to figures received this morning, 17 states have recorded an increase in Covid cases. Kerala (266), Karnataka (70), Maharashtra (15), Tamil Nadu (13) and Gujarat (12) are the most affected. Two deaths were reported in Kerala and one each in Karnataka and Rajasthan, the ministry said. With this, the number of deaths due to covid has increased to 5,33,332. The death rate is 1.18 percent. 325 people have recovered from covid in last 24 hours. With this, the total number of cured patients has increased to 4,44,71,212. The national cure rate is 98.81 percent.

The government has said that there is no need to worry and panic over the current increase in Covid-19 cases. However, the Center has advised those with comorbidities to wear masks as a precautionary measure. Health Minister Mansukh Mandavya on Wednesday reviewed the preparedness of treatment facilities across the country and called for vigilance against Covid. Till December 21, 22 cases of Covid sub-variant JN.1 have been reported across the country, government sources said. 19 of them are in Goa. A sub-variety of each has been found in Kerala and Maharashtra.
