Defender of the Latvian national football team Kaspars Dubra initially tested negative for Covid-19, but was subsequently re-tested by the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) in a certified laboratory where the test was already positive on Tuesday from Montenegro The remote coach told the national press at a conference with Latvian journalists Dainis Kazakevičs.

It has already been reported that the Latvian national football team in the three upcoming matches will not be able to help the defender of the Ukrainian top league club “Oleksandriya” Kaspars Dubra. Several footballers have been infected with Covid-19 at the club, forcing the whole unit to become self-isolated.

Kazakevich explained that as a result of a negative inspection carried out under the auspices of the club, the national team was ready to judge the footballer’s joining the national team, but obstacles arose.

“On Monday we received a message from the club that the test is negative and he can go to the national team,” Kazakevich said. “Given that this test was not performed in a laboratory recognized according to the UEFA” Return to Play “protocol, we decided that before Kaspars arrives in the team, he will take another test in Kiev, halfway to the team, which will be performed in a certified laboratory. Unfortunately, on the way to the press conference, I learned that this test is positive.

Thus, the Latvian national team was left without the two guards of the center, with which it was started UEFA League of Nations cycle due to injury to the national unit however, Antonio Chernomordy cannot join either. True, the team was supplemented by the previously injured midfielder of Gdansk “Lechia” Christers Tobers, who during his career also played in the position of center defender.

Tobers revealed at a press conference that he has been training with the Polish team for the last three weeks, but had been working as a full-time fitness coach for a month before. Asked about the possibility of using Tober in the position of the center defender, Kazakevičs did not want to hurry ahead for Wednesday’s game.

“Currently, the team has three full-fledged center guards by position – Marc Osh, Igor Tarasov and Elvis Stuglis. So far, however, we have hoped that Kaspars could join the team. Obviously, we didn’t count on him for the first game, but perhaps in the second and probably the third game, we expected him to help us. Let’s not rush with Plan B. Let’s see what happens in tomorrow’s game. After that, there will be an option to use another player at the disposal of the team, who has previously had experience in this position, and possibly to invite another player, “says Kazakevičs.

Marcis Osh is also in a similar situation as Tobers, the coach did not hide. He has been in the “Lugano” team application in the last two matches of the Swiss Super League, as well as left a good impression in the national team training. Kazakevich stressed that Osh is ready to use his opportunity to go to the square.

Only on Tuesday evening, the first training is expected, in which almost all representatives of the state unit will participate. In the first training, in parallel with the Latvian Football Super League games, eight football players were present, but in the second training, 17 players have already trained. Also added to favorites later than expected “Put“unit attacker Raimonds Krollis. This is due to a possible change of football clubs.

But in the first two trainings Munich fully participated “Bayern“system midfielder Daniels Ontužāns.

“He leaves a good enough opportunity right now. Let’s say, with positive emotions, with a desire to assert himself to the maximum. In this respect, he is giving positive signals. Let’s see how he will be in today’s training, then we will assess how ready he is to participate in the upcoming games,” Kazakevich.

The coach still has a desire to lead the battlefield on Wednesday in the test match on Wednesday, while also thinking about the upcoming UEFA League League match in the Faroe Islands on Saturday. The line-up will be played by players who need a practice before playing with the Faroese team, as well as footballers who have proven themselves in training.

“It is clear that there will be some newcomers in several positions who will play tomorrow. But only those who have earned it with their work in the training process. It will not be simply a mathematically second or third line-up to protect the leading players,” Kazakevich said.

Latvian footballers will play against Montenegro in the October cycle on Wednesday, October 7. After that, the Latvian national team will be followed by two matches in the UEFA League D League Group 1 tournament – away against the Faroe Islands (October 10) and at home against Malta (October 13).
