“Kayan” opens the second edition of the Bahrain Film Festival

The Bahrain Film Festival kicked off on Saturday in its second session, with 49 short films participating in four competitions for narrative short films, documentaries, action films and Bahraini films.

In the opening ceremony, which was held in the Seef Mall cinema in the Seef suburb, the festival screened the Saudi feature film “Kyan” directed by Hakim Juma.

The festival, which runs until 19 October, raises the slogan “Cinema for You” and is organized by the Bahrain Cinema Club under the auspices of the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities.

The festival organizes a series of free training workshops in the areas of screenwriting for beginners, such as choosing actors, the importance and secrets of auditions, intellectual property rights in film and financial planning for the film industry.

On the sidelines of the events, two Russian films will be screened on 17 and 18 October, in collaboration with the Roskino Foundation, representative of the Russia International Film Festival.

The accompanying program also includes around 25 films from Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the Emirates, Jordan, Sudan, Morocco, Tunisia, Iraq and Syria.
