Animal protection also found out that the animal must have been hanging around for years at the prison of the harbor town north of Aberdeen, Scotland. Security guards fed the black-gray stray cat with leftovers from the kitchen and nicknamed him “One-eyed Joe” because he only has one eye. The guards reportedly loved the cat.

Dexter has since been reunited with his owner, who was delighted to see them again. She told the BBC that the cat had always been an “outgoing” type. “When he disappeared, we never heard from him again and we never expected to see him here again.” She will try to keep Dexter and his fans in prison in contact with each other.
