KAS secured nearly PLN 1 million in cash and PLN 3.3 million on bank accounts of dishonest companies; four entities underestimated their turnover on a very large scale – Anita Wielanek, a spokeswoman for the National Tax Administration, told PAP.

According to Wielanek, at the beginning of August 2020, the Łódź National Tax Administration, in cooperation with the Ministry of Finance, checked the operation of parcel collection points in the vicinity of the shopping center near Łódź.

“Thousands of parcels were sent at the points, and hundreds of millions of zlotys flowed through their bank accounts. Such commercial activity was to help maintain the anonymity of shippers and allowed to conceal the actual scale of activities carried out by companies that included parcel collection points” – explained the spokeswoman.

The KAS was suspected of financial flows on bank accounts of entities servicing parcel collection points. It was found that the receipts on the accounts were described in such a way as to make it impossible to identify the payment title. At the same time, at very short intervals, the money was paid out in cash or transferred to the private accounts of people who handled parcel collection points.

“We have secured the accounting records of four entities. The preliminary analysis shows the lack of accounting evidence that would allow the settlement of multi-million zlotys of receipts on the accounts and establishing whether and to whom the money was actually transferred” – explains the KAS spokeswoman.

She informed that due to the suspicion that the financial sector was being used for fiscal fraud, the head of the National Revenue Administration blocked almost PLN 3.3 million in bank accounts of entities suspected of undercutting turnover.

“The Łódź KAS has secured nearly PLN 1 million in cash, as well as documentation, computers, tablets, electronic data carriers and telephones. The devices will be examined in detail” – added Wielanek. (PAP)
