Later he continued to learn the instrument at the jazz department of the Riga Dome Choir School, but then studied in Amsterdam and Copenhagen. During his bachelor’s studies, he studied jazz saxophone and has performed in several music ensembles in the Dutch capital and abroad. For example, with the Keno Harriehausen Quartet, winning first place in the International Zeeland Jazz Award 2013, Ujazz Award 2013 and Mechelen Jazzcontest 2014 competitions.

In 2018, together with Matīss Čudars and Ivars Arutjunjans, he recorded the album “Baltic”, which a year later won the “Golden Microphone” award as the best jazz music album. Last year, Kārlis Auziņš’s solo album “Oneness and the Transcendent Truth” was released under the auspices of the Danish music publishing house “Gotta Let It Out”. My court memories, references to this record are expected to be performed at a concert this weekend in Ventspils.

“For me, music in its best moments is like losing one’s personality. You lose your ego and become part of the music. Somehow you are no longer yourself, you are part of a greater energy. For me, music is a flow. There is one state, balance between the brain and the subconscious, when you seem to know where you are, what you are doing, but it flows naturally, not you consciously figuring out what you are going to play now, which I think is the real feeling, especially in jazz music, which is interaction one, you are together with the audience, with the space, “in a conversation Kārlis Auziņš tried to describe his feelings while making music.

It has been previously reported that the well-known German cellist and composer Anne Millere will perform at one of the concerts of the contemporary car music cycle “Ma” on October 24 in Ventspils.

Tickets for the concert of Anne Miller and Kārlis Auziņš can be purchased at “Biļešu paradīze” box offices and on the Internet.
