KOMPAS.com – KAI’s VP of Public Relations Joni Martinus confirmed that: PT KAI does not reduce service to prospective passengers, even for economy class.
Associated with seat or passenger seats 2-2 which are considered less suitable for premium economy class, Joni explained the reason.
“There is no decline in service (downgrade), still the same economy class service,” he told Kompas.comSaturday (16/7/2022).
“(Regarding seats 2-2) This is due to the rotation of the facilities being operated, so there is a change in the facilities used by staying in accordance with the established service standards,” he continued.

Previously, a number of netizens complained about the premium economy train facilities which were deemed not suitable for the price.
They call, premium economy train facilities not much different with the usual economy in terms of seats and air conditioning that is not cold.
Joni added that his party is open to all suggestions, input, and criticism for service improvement.
“KAI is committed to continuously improving by always listening to input from customers,” he added.

So far, KAI has four classes to accommodate passengers, namely luxury, executive, business and economy trains.
The difference between the trains is in the facilities, carriage capacity, seats, and ticket fare.
Of the four classes, economy trains have the most seats, namely 80-106 seats.

The same thing was also expressed by the Public Relations Manager of PT KAI Daop 6 Yogyakarta, Supriyanto.
KAI, he added, did not specify the type of economy train carriage in purchasing tickets.
The use of a series of economic train carriages, he added, is carried out alternately.
“It is not specified in the ticket, because the series of ingredients can alternate. So on the ticket there are no SS or package economic provisions,” he told Kompas.comFriday (15/7/2022).
Although there are differences in seating, but his party said there was no decrease in service. This is because all types of carriages are still in one class, namely economy trains.

The economy package train type consists of 80 seats in a 2×2 formation.
The difference with premium economy trains is the economy package train seats face to face between passengers.
WITH economy AC split
The split AC economy train has a capacity of most seats i.e. 106 seats. There are 2×2 and 3×3 seat formations face to face between passengers.

“So I’m afraid to go up to premium economy where everyone is sitting, it’s quite far Sby-jkt,” write other netizens.
“It’s the same, now you got 312500 solo-senen when the series came, this is normal economy, obviously on the PREMIUM economy ticket, you know that’s a little more for executives,” write following account.
