Head of Regional BIN (Kabinda) Papua, Brigadier General Putu Dani Nugraha Karya died after being shot by an armed criminal group (KKB) the Lekagak Telengen group in Beoga, Puncak, Papua. BIN said Brigadier General Putu was shot in the head.
BIN spokesman Wawan Purwanto explained the chronology of gunfire between the BIN Task Force and the KKB group. At that time, said Wawan, the BIN Task Force and the TNI-Polri Task Force were on patrol to Dambet Village, Beoga District, Puncak Regency, Papua.
“On Sunday, April 25, 2021, the BIN Task Force together with the TNI-Polri Task Force traveled to Kp. Dambet, Beoga District, Puncak Regency in the context of field observation and joint pursuit of TNI-Polri Forces for Security Restoration around SDN Dambet and Honai Milik. Benert Tinal (Head of the Beoga District Tribe) who was burned on April 17, 2021 and to cut the movement of the KSB Working Group to Illaga, “said Wawan in his statement, Sunday (25/4/2021).
On the way, at around 15:50 WIT, Brigadier General Putu, the BIN Task Force and the TNI-Polri Task Force were intercepted by the KKB group. It was then that a shootout took place in the vicinity of the Dambet Village church, Beoga, Puncak.
Brigadier General Putu, said Wawan, was hit by gunfire during the firefight. According to him, Brigadier General was shot in the head.
“As a result of this firefight, the victim from the BIN Task Force, Kabinda Papua Papua, Brigadier General Pol. Putu Danny Nugraha Karya was shot in the back of the head and through the front of the head which resulted in the death of the Nation Kusuma,” said Wawan.
Meanwhile, the Head of BIN, General (Purn) Budi Gunawan, said that this incident prevented BIN from seriously dealing with KKB in Papua. According to him, this is a sign that BIN is also proactive in maintaining the stability of Papua’s security.
“This indicates that BIN is proactive in maintaining the stability and security of Papua. All this should be appreciated because the Head of BIN General (Purn) Prof. Dr. Budi Gunawan is serious in handling Papua so that it remains part of the Republic of Indonesia,” he concluded.
As is known, Brigadier General I Gusti Putu Danny Nugraha Karya died in a gun battle with an armed criminal group or KKB in Beoga, Puncak, Papua. Brigadier General Putu’s body was immediately evacuated.
“Yes, he died, as a result of being shot by KKSB at 15.30 WIT in Beoga. Currently the body is still in Beoga, while we are still monitoring, we plan to evacuate tomorrow,” said Commander of Kodam XVII Maj. Gen. Ignatius Yogo Triyono to reporters, Sunday (25/04/21).
