Kabareskrim Requests Cases of Begal Victims to Become Suspects in NTB to be Stopped

Jakarta, CNN Indonesia

Kabareskrim The National Police, Komjen Pol Agus Andrianto asked for a case victim of robbery who actually became a suspect in NTB to be stopped.

This was conveyed by Agus because the investigation of the case has the potential to make people afraid to fight crime.

“Stop it in my opinion. People will become apathetic, afraid to fight crime. We must fight crime together,” said Agus, Thursday (14/4).

He hoped that the actions taken by the Police in investigating the case would not damage justice in the midst of society.

“That is our guideline,” he said.

Agus said he had given directions to the NTB Police Chief to re-examine the case. According to him, all mechanisms can be carried out, one of which is by holding a case by inviting and asking for views from community leaders.

“You can ask them whether the victim who is defending herself becomes a suspect. So that later the police’s decision will gain legitimacy from the community through the invited figures in the case,” he said.

“Don’t say it like now, so the suspect actually causes a pretty strong reaction in the community,” he said.

“Hopefully the stages of holding a case with community leaders can produce a fair decision for the person concerned,” he added.

Previously, the West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Police took over the alleged murder of two suspected robbers by the victim with the initials AS alias M (34).

The Regional Police are also exploring the position of the US as a victim of robbery, not only as a murderer.

In that case, AS alias M was charged with murder after killing the robbers who attacked him in the village ofganti, East Praya sub-district, Central Lombok on Sunday (10/4) early morning.

“What is certain is that the case is handled by the Central Lombok Police. So, we are handling it now at the Regional Police,” said NTB Police Chief Inspector General Djoko Purwanto when contacted CNNIndonesia.comThursday (14/4).
