As Hive suddenly declared a ‘stop’ in the takeover process, Kakao took control of SM.
As a result, Kakao Enter will stand shoulder to shoulder with Hive as the second largest company in the industry with the intellectual property rights of SM artists, following singer IU and girl group Ive.
In the future, Kakao will expand its overseas entertainment business, and it is expected to accelerate the listing of Kakao Entertainment.
Hive, which promised platform cooperation with Kakao instead of management rights, is expected to focus on the fan community platform ‘Weverse’ business that it is working hard on.
In the music industry, it is an observation that popular K-pop stars led by SM may enter ‘Weverse’.
In addition, there is a possibility of realizing profits by selling SM shares.
If the tender offer offered by Kakao sells 15.78%, including the stake transferred from former producer Lee Soo-man, at 150,000 won, Hive will reap a profit of more than 100 billion won.
As SM’s share price soared due to the overheating of the takeover battle, it is judged that it took advantage by prioritizing defense of its stock price rather than massive blood loss.
