Juvenile delinquency: The ABJPD raises awareness in schools

The Burkinabè Association of Jurists for the Promotion of Law (ABJPD) organized a public conference to raise awareness about juvenile delinquency in schools. It was this Saturday, May 20, 2023 at the Lycée Mixte d’Accart-ville.

Juvenile delinquency in schools is a scourge that is growing. It is through this observation that the ABJPD launches its activities through a conference. It took place under the theme: “Juvenile delinquency in schools: drugs, alcohol, violence and prison”. The main objective of this conference is to make as many young students as possible aware of the causes of delinquency and the harmful consequences that this can have on life in society.

According to Boris Wetta, president of the Burkinabe Association of Jurists for the Promotion of Law, “We started from an observation of the phenomenon of juvenile delinquency in establishments. As a young association, we want to engage in raising awareness among students, because they are the ones who will take over in the future. And we hope they will learn the lesson well”. The president of the ABJPD goes further on the question.“In addition to the conference, we plan to organize monitoring cells to raise awareness of juvenile delinquency”, he specified.

The conference was moderated by Me Adama Ramdé, lawyer and Abou Nignan, deputy prosecutor of Faso at the high court of Bobo. For Master Ramdé, ” which speaks of student, speaks of success. But today we see the opposite. As advocates, we want to do our part to raise awareness among these students”. “In the communication, we will first present juvenile delinquency, then the causes and finally demonstrate the negative consequences that could result from it”, indicates the lawyer at the Court Adama Ramdé.

The governor of the Hauts-Bassins region, head of the activity, was represented by Marie Claire Tensaba/ Sawadogo. In view of the topicality of the theme, she encouraged the association for its commitment to building the country.
