Lung cancer is the first type of cancer in men. The reason is, this is related to smoking habits in men which is a major risk factor lung cancer.
The habit of smoking becomes dangerous because each stem contains 3 harmful ingredients, namely addictive substances in the form of nicotine, 4000 toxic substances, and 60 carcinogenic substances.
Currently, there have been many campaigns calling for limiting cigarette. One of them, vape (e-cigarette) which is claimed to be healthier and safer.
However, this assumption was denied by Dr. Sita Laksmi Andarini, PhD, SpP(K), a consultant lung specialist oncology at the Friendship Hospital in a lung cancer seminar, Tuesday (23/11/2021).
“The Indonesian Lung Doctors Association does not recommend e-cigarettes (vape) and herbal cigarettes as therapy to stop smoking. Any vape must contain nicotine,” said Dr. Sita.
According to him, both traditional and vape has a bad effect on health because both still produce cigarette smoke or vapor which can increase the risk of lung cancer.
