Of course, marketing plays a role in cash registers. Neerman: “It is making a virtue of necessity. It is a way of differentiating. If you still have cash registers with employees of flesh and blood, you can make something extra out of it. I don’t think shops will have much of it financially will win by. It’s a gesture.”
Neerman suspects that the novelty may catch on. “Yes, Belgians are more reserved, but you are not supposed to tell your whole life story at the cash register. I do think there is a need: know that you can take your time at the cash register, even if only to get change. searching, that can make a difference.”
