Jumbo aircraft for Indonesia will arrive in 2023

One of Indonesia’s major airlines will bring in dozens of fleets in 2023. Significant growth is the main momentum.

“Apart from increasing our fleet to 32 from the current 17 this year, we also plan to introduce wide-body A330s for better connectivity with Northeast Asia including Japan, South Korea, China and India,” said Bo Lingam, Group CEO of AirAsia Aviation Group. , quoted on Sunday (29/1/2023).

“With this expansion, we hope to develop logistics and strengthen our support for Indonesia in recovering and growing the tourism industry,” he explained

Lingam also expressed optimism for the Indonesian airline’s business, saying its international operations were very strong in Indonesia. His company had carried nearly 5 million passengers before COVID-19, which represented 30 percent of international tourists arriving in Indonesia.

“We have created nearly two thousand jobs in Indonesia and generated over $3 billion in tourism revenue, which has strong growth potential this year, following a strong post-COVID-19 surge in travel demand,” he said.

In addition to adding to the aircraft fleet, the IAA will also continue to strengthen support for super priority destinations. During his visit to Jakarta, CEO of Capital A Tony Fernandes emphasized that AirAsia always puts its commitment to Indonesia first.

AirAsia shows off tourists to Indonesia

The results of Capital A’s operating statistics show that AirAsia has contributed greatly to tourism in Indonesia with AirAsia Indonesia flying 3.25 million pax with nearly 23,000 flights with 16 operational aircraft in FY2022.

Seats sold on international flights jumped sharply by 7397% year-on-year. In 2019, with 28 units of aircraft, the IAA managed to bring more than 4 million foreign tourists to Indonesia.

Currently, the IAA operates 17 aircraft and is on a solid track to restore routes and connectivity with its plan to have a total of 32 aircraft by 2023.
