Several travelers have received a message from Brussels Airlines warning them that their flight was overbooked on Monday. The airline company therefore proposed to travelers by message to take the plane the next day: “Due to an overbooking, we are looking for passengers of the flight of July 6, 2020 preferring to take the flight of tomorrow. As compensation, we offer the hotel and the sum of 250 euros ”.
The passengers then gathered in front of the boarding gate to have their flight. Among them was Julien Sturbois, radio presenter on Nostagie and former weather gentleman on RTBF: “Parked like bull’s-eye between 4 safety nets, no longer responsible for social distancing. All because ‘everyone is in a hurry’ following the message we received … I say bravo the company, you are STRONG by daring to overbook post Covid! He wrote on Facebook.
Brussels Airlines spokesperson Wencke Lemmes-Pireaux confirmed to our colleagues at La Libre that there was indeed an “excess booking situation on this flight” and that it was an “exceptional situation “:” We are in a completely atypical situation. Because of the pandemic, there are travel restrictions, quarantines on arrival or even schedule changes. ”
Brussels Airlines apologized to the passengers on the affected flight.
