Julian Alaphilippe’s father dies

Deceuninck-Quick Step announced Sunday the death of Jo Alapahilippe, father of cyclist Julian and uncle of Franck, trainer with the Belgian team.

“The thoughts of the Deceuninck – Quick-Step family are with them,” the Belgian team wrote on Twitter. Jacques Alaphilippe, known as “Jo”, had been sick for several years. Last year, the musician, who was traveling in a wheelchair, had visited his son during the Tour de France, of which Alaphilippe had been one of the great leaders, wearing the yellow jersey for a large part of the event.
