Judges feared miscarriage of justice, so Kočner and Zsuzs were released – ČT24 – Czech Television

According to the judgment reading 139 pages there is no doubt that Marian Kočner had Ján Kuciak watched. Not for murder, but to discredit a young journalist. The judges had doubts especially about the testimony of key witness Zoltán Andruskó, writes the Slovak Denník N.

The verdict concludes by admitting that the three judges are indecisive and fear they may have committed a miscarriage of justice: Small security requirements could increase the risk of miscarriage of justice. “

There are several surprising arguments in the written version, which were not heard during the oral verdict on September 3, the Sme.sk server notes. “Including that Kočner didn’t even know the murder was coming up. At the same time, when the verdict was announced orally, the court admitted that Kočner had a motive, but that was not enough to convict him, “the server writes.

The Senate also questioned the credibility of the witness and Kočner’s confidant Petr Tóth, who had previously worked for the Slovak Information Service. Even these doubts were not voiced during the reading.

The senate deals with the acquittal of Marian Kočner and Alena Zsuzsová on 42 pages of the sentence, the rest concerns the conviction of Tomáš Szabó for the murder of Ján Kuciak, his fiancée Martina Kušnírová and businessman Peter Molnár, as well as the illegal arming of Marian Kočner.
