Juan Carlos Ozorio turned himself in to prosecutors

Asunción: This morning MP Juan Carlos Ozorio resigned his seat in Parliament, saying he was doing so because of the stress he was accused of having links to drug trafficking and organized crime.

An arrest warrant was issued for the ex-MP after he resigned from the House of Representatives. He would also be the target of investigations by “A Ultranza” aimed at stopping massive drug trafficking and money laundering.

This afternoon, former MP Juan Carlos Ozorio appeared before the Anti-Drug Prosecutor’s Office to testify about his alleged links to drug trafficking and organized crime. He has been described as the “head of a criminal organization”.

Álvaro Arias confirmed via Twitter that he is on his way to the prosecutor’s office to bring former MP Ozorio to justice. An arrest warrant has been issued for the former MP to continue investigations into his alleged links to drug trafficking as part of Operation “A Ultranza”. This warrant was issued after he resigned his seat in Congress.

According to the lawyer, Ozorio denies that it is his voice that can be heard in the audios published by journalist Alfredo Guachiré. This is apparently the version that the ex-parliamentarian will present to the public prosecutor.

According to the complaint, filed by journalist Alfredo Guachiré, Congressman Ozorio – from the ruling Colorado Añetete movement, the ANR – would be “the head of a criminal organization” that produced cocaine and marijuana, which was later sold to the Brazilian crime group Comando Vermelho.

There is footage purporting to prove that Congressman Ozorio has been running a drug production lab since 2019 and is “setting up a multiple accomplice scheme that provides him with an efficient organization for cocaine production and marijuana cultivation.”

Juan Carlos Ozorio was president of the San Cristóbal cooperative and is said to have used his position to ally himself with his accomplices by opening accounts within his illegal organization to facilitate the transfer of funds to his ’employees’”. The aforementioned cooperative is already under scrutiny.

The suspected drug politician is expected to be arrested.
