The salary of the chief executive of the large American bank JPMorgan Chase has now been approved by the board. This is shown in documents submitted to the US Financial Supervisory Authority (SEC).

Dimon had total compensation of $36 million in 2023.

That’s a $1.5 million increase from 2022, when the CEO earned $34.5 million. This is an increase of 4.35 per cent.

The salary increase corresponds to around NOK 15.8 million, with today’s dollar exchange rate of NOK 10.5. In total, Dimon’s salary corresponded to NOK 378 million.

67-year-old Jamie Dimon has been the chief executive of the major bank since 2005. He has a fortune of around 2.3 billion dollars, according to Bloomberg. This corresponds to more than NOK 24 billion.

There is “only” $6 million of his 2023 salary that is paid outright as cash. The remaining 29.5 million of the compensation comes in the form of shares.

“The annual compensation for 2023 reflects Dimon’s management of the company, with growth across all of its market-leading business areas, record-breaking financial results and a strengthening balance sheet,” the statement said.

The board further points out that JP Morgan managed to navigate through the banking crisis in March last year “in a successful way”, and carried out the acquisition of the crisis-stricken bank First Republic.
