A young man identified as Justo Raúl Martínez Miranda, who was reported missing since last November 10, was found dead in the Pinar del Río Geology Dam.
According to the local press, the young man, known affectionately by his friends as ‘Pirolo’, was a resident of La Sabana, and was 31 years old. While no details of what happened were revealed, it was indicated that the body was found after an exhaustive search carried out by authorities and volunteers.
The discovery of the body was confirmed by the state broadcaster Radio Minas where several Internet users were affected by the news.
Elsa Páez Hernández, who claimed to be a relative of Pirolo, thanked all those who participated in the search, noting that her family has received countless expressions of solidarity from the residents of Minas de Matahambre.
Yusleidys Hernández Yusla, cousin of the deceased young man, had made a public call on social networks, requesting help to find him.
The woman stated that local authorities, firefighters, forest rangers and volunteers from the area participated in the search.
“Our family is desperate, my cousin left his house since Friday night. At this moment we are accompanied by the rescue group of the Provincial Fire Command, forest rangers and the Sector Chief of the town, also part of the surrounding population,” he wrote on Sunday, November 12, a few hours before the body was found.
Both publications, which generated hundreds of reactions, were filled with comments from people sending their condolences to the affected family. Likewise, many family members took the opportunity to thank the community for their help.
