To do this, right on the border from the Russian side, Russian trucks are replaced with European ones.
In Russia, they figured out how to get around sanctions against freight traffic. To do this, on the border with the European Union, Russian trucks are replaced by European ones – and then the Russian cargo is already being transported by a truck from the EU.
About it writes Finnish edition of Yle, talking to one of the drivers.
I drive up in an empty car to the Russian side of the border. There it is loaded, after which I take the cargo back, says the driver of the car registered in Latvia.
The reloading of cargo from a Russian truck to a European truck takes place on the other side of the eastern border, in the Russian customs zone, the Finnish edition writes.
It is mentioned that at the beginning of April the fifth package of sanctions came into force, in which the European Union banned the movement of Russian and Belarusian trucks on its territory. Russia has not responded in kind, so European trucks can still operate in Russia.
As a rule, trucks simply stop at the border to bring or pick up cargo. Sometimes on the Russian side of the border they simply change the car that drives the trailer, and this tandem is interpreted as a Finnish combination. This is also allowed.
